World Affairs Institute 2027

March 3, 2027, 9:00AM–2:00PM | Commonwealth Charter Academy (Homestead)

Now in its 56th year, the World Affairs Institute brings together students, professionals, educators, and community members from across the region for a day of global learning and collaboration.

The theme for 2027 is Forging the Future: Pittsburgh’s Rise as a Global Health Leader.

Hosted in partnership with Rotary Districts 7305, 7280, & 6650 and Global Links, the World Affairs Institute will take place on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2027 at Commonwealth Charter Acadamey (Homestead). Doors open at 8:00AM, with programming running from 9:00AM–2:00PM.

Who is this for?

The World Affairs Institute is an opportunity for everyone to engage with the issues that are shaping our world. High school students, college students, professionals, educators, and community members are encouraged to attend. We design the Institute to be both inclusive and tailored to your interests and perspective.

Costs & Scholarships

The fee of $75 for each participant covers the cost of all conference sessions, a light breakfast and lunch, and resources.

Cost shouldn’t hinder changemakers. If your school district does not have a sponsor, scholarships are available. Complete this form to apply for a scholarship.

Attention Rotary Members: Help more youth changemakers take part by sponsoring high school students from your region or attend as a chaperone to help shape the next generation of globally minded leaders.

Inclement Weather Policy:

Winter weather in Pittsburgh can change rapidly. Given the time and date of this event, we adhere to our Inclement Weather Policy for this ticketed event.

Change to Virtual Event: In the event of inclement weather, we may shift to a virtual event with the same date and times and will notify attendees at least 48 hours in advance via their registration email and on social media.

While we will make all efforts to intentionally gather together in person to explore Forging the Future: Pittsburgh’s Rise as a Global Health Leader, we are committed to providing a meaningful virtual experience should weather conditions in our region prevent gathering together in person safely.

Please plan ahead so that you are prepared to engage with us on Wednesday, March 3, 2027. This includes school groups who may need to plan around school delays or cancellations.

Please note that refunds will not be issued if our Inclement Weather Policy is enacted.

Inclement Weather in your Region: If inclement weather is expected for your area and will prevent you from attending the Institute in-person, the Council can provide refunds if we are notified no later than 10 days before the event.

Due to venue and catering deadlines, we cannot issue refunds with less than 10 days notice.

Refunds will be issued via check minus a 10% processing fee. Please allow 3-4 weeks to receive your refund check in the mail.

As we get closer to the Institute date, we advise that you watch the weather forecast for your region to determine if inclement weather will prohibit in-person attendance. If weather conditions unexpectedly change in your region and the 10 days notice deadline has passed, we encourage you to plan for virtual participation in the conference.
