Brian Magee
Brian Magee is the current Senior Director of Growth Strategies for the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh (WAC) which he joined in the fall of 2024.
Prior to joining the WAC team, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP). Over a ten year period, Brian developed PUMP from an early stage nonprofit to a recognized and trusted voice for change in Pittsburgh, harnessing a membership base of over 5,000 young people throughout the community to build a city and region for all. He returned to Pittsburgh in 2011 after a decade of service as the first Executive Director of the Montana Nonprofit Association, a thriving statewide advocate and resource for the nonprofit community in Montana.
For nearly 30 years, Brian has worked for and consulted with a diverse array of public agencies and nonprofits, including the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, the United Way of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, Montana Governor’s Office of Community Service, the Northeast Community Center Association in Spokane, the Chicago Community Trust, and numerous nonprofits within the national service network. He has also served on a number of boards including Rivers of Steel, the National Council of Nonprofits, Montana Governor’s Task Force on Endowments and
Philanthropy, the Montana Budget and Policy Center, and the Independent Sector’s Small Organizations Work Group that was part of the National Panel on the Nonprofit Sector.
A native of Pittsburgh, Brian holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in
Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and hiking, biking, and exploring the great outdoors. His other interests include politics, archaeology, world cultures, food and cooking, music, travel, and ceramic arts.
