Share Your Story!
We invite you to an exciting live storytelling event centered around our theme of “culture shock.” We’re bringing together our community members, partners, friends, and family for an evening of storytelling.
Storytelling is a tradition that has existed for thousands of years, bringing people together and helping to document history all around the world. We believe that exploring global issues leads to a deeper understanding of the world around us and more empathy for people near us. Storytelling is a way for us to explore global issues together through shared tradition.
We’re asking you to share your personal stories about… a time you experienced culture shock. We define culture shock as the disorienting feeling you may experience when suddenly exposed to a culture, way of life, or set of attitudes that is unfamiliar to you. We encourage you to interpret this prompt and definition in a way that makes sense for you and your life experience. Consider all aspects of your identity when deciding what story to tell.
If you’d like to share your story, submit a short paragraph describing your true culture shock story for a chance to be selected as one of the evening’s storytellers. This submission process is open to any and everyone!
Share a story that…
- -Relates to your own experience with culture shock
- -Extends no longer than five to seven minutes
- -Is true and about you
The deadline to submit a story is Monday, January 31. We’re excited to hear your stories!
