caito joyfully joined the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh team in April 2022 as part-time Event Manager.
Prior to joining the Council, caito’s commitment to non-profit work was realized at The Frick Pittsburgh in Learning & Visitor Experience. During her 20-year Frick tenure, caito has been responsible for the vision and implementation of all facets of the popular Summer Fridays series. Performance offerings have ranged from emerging local artists to the multiphonic singing of Tibetan monks. As Curator of Performance Events, she has also built strong community relationships through original site-specific and DEAI partnership programs.
Following her graduation from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, caito’s first international foray was as a naive interior design student in Paris. Augmented by European travels with her mother to visit their family in a remote village in Italy, these early experiences changed her perspective of the world forever.
Working as a park ranger on the stunning Oregon coast enhanced caito’s love of nature, the endless beauty of our planet, and the need to protect it. There she led the interpretive program at Heceta Head lighthouse and built a coastal café and gallery, while balancing work on the East coast as a tour planner and guide, specializing in educational youth travel.
caito’s sense of adventure and thirst for learning has taken her throughout the U.S. and around the world. She has traversed over 30 countries. She embraces local living and cultures, enjoys off-grid backpacking, and volunteers for health, education, and disaster relief projects.
Collaboration, imagination, and storytelling drives caito. An introduction to distinctive body adornment and headdress awakened her interest in and respect for cultural awareness at a young age. A self-taught jewelry designer, her award-winning wearable art draws inspiration from people and places worldwide that have touched her deeply. These are the narratives she tells with the jeweled threads she intertwines with her hands.
caito gratefully welcomes this opportunity with the Council to deepen her knowledge of world affairs. She is always eager to share her resourcefulness, passion for equity, and knack for planning and organizing details. With her remarkable colleagues, she is excited to create innovative events that will encourage globally minded insights and connection within our community and beyond.
